Bomar has been an avid
fisherman since a young boy where he learned to fish in the Sierra
Nevada's of California. He started guiding in 1973 on Idaho's Middle
Fork and Main Salmon Rivers. He graduated from Colorado State University
in 1977 with a Bachelors in Wildlife Biology. The numerous other rivers
he has guided include: The American, Arkansas, Colorado, Eagle, E.
Carson, Gunnison, Merced, North Platte, Roaring Fork, Rogue, Selway,
Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Yampa, and of course, the Green River. Bomar
has over 30,000 miles of river experience and he is an excellent outdoor
chef, specializing in Dutch Oven Cookery. He has even had his recipes
published in an outdoor cookbook.
In 1999 American Subaru
Outback produced a show featured on ESPN. Bomar and the Green River
Drifters were featured guests. The new millennium brought a featured
article in the magazine Endless Vacations describing the Drifters
overnight trips in Browns Park. From the Minneapolis Star to the L.A.
Times, numerous articles have been written about Gregg, his guides
and the dedication to quality of service that Green River Drifters
provide.
Bomar has been a member
of the Steamboat Ski Patrol for twenty-five years and is certified
as an Emergency Medical Technician. For a great fishing experience
that you'll never forget, give Bomar and his guides a call to arrange
your trip or ask him what flies are working this week.
